Mr. SMJ Meli, B.Sc (Hons), C.Eng.M.I.Mech.E., is the proprietor & founder of Melimoto. Commencing his employment in the 60’s with the then Rover Car Company in the experimental department his duties ranged from build & test of experimental engines to later as one of the team building engines for the rally cars. Incidentally, he was trained by FA Norris whose best placing was 8th in the IoM TT. During this period he built the engine for the vehicle that won the Scottish Rally for Rover, its only international rally win. After completing his studies at university he was employed in various posts in R&D in both gas turbines and reciprocating engines.Always having a keen interest in motorcycles, he has been road riding since the age of sixteen and raced at amateur level in the IoM. Melimoto was founded in 1995, initially to carry out tuning and set-up work on a specially designed rolling road. It proved so successful that it was decided to develop Melimoto further and hence the products and services seen on these pages. The company is small, employing five people, but offers a personal service rather than a catalogue of many parts already available elsewhere. It also continues with the design and development of special products in the motorcycle field.
